Should a multicultural perspective be encouraged?

Should children be taught to celebrate differences among people or should the focus be on similarities?

  1. I feel that children should be taught to celebrate differences among people instead of focusing on the similarities. My reason for saying that is because you could learn new things and alot of other things fom different people, by focusing only on the same culture and people around you, you really not learning nothing.

  2. I feel that children should learn about both the similarities and the differences because they need to understand that other cultures are just as human as their own. However, individuality is equally important.

  3. I think that children should be taught to celebrate other's differences or at least taught what that difference is. Similarities should be mentioned (not focused on completely). Our society varies with people with special needs, different races and talents, etc. No one should focus mainly on similarities because once you get in the "real world" there are unique differences that you will find among the people you encounter :)

  4. I think children should be taught to celebrate the similarities among others. In my personal opinion, learning about people of another culture is educational and entertaining as well. You may do the same things but in different ways.

  5. Yes children should be taught about other cltures because they need to know than what their culture do. They need to learn about other people in the world. Their culture is not the only culture in the world there are so many more in the real world. When they go to school there will be differnt cultures. They need to know anout how they look, dress and things they do in order too cooperate with children that is different from them. So yes , learning about other cultures is IMPORTANT :)

  6. I think children should be taught the difference among others. My reason for that is because everybody is different no idividual isn't the same. We have some special needs people and people of different races. You shouldn't just focus on Africa American enjoy the others out in the world.

  7. Truthfully, I think children should be taught how to celebrate diffrences among people & similarites. I think they should know how to adjust to both because sometimes children are put with groups of children with difrrences and similarities!

  8. I think children should be taught to celebrate both the differences among people and similarities. It gives them the chance to learn more and compare what they already know because in the "real world" it may come as alot of help for them.

  9. I feel that children should be taught to celebrate differences, because we could learn something from them, I mean just because some children are not americans, doesn't mean we can't celebrate their differences. We all deserve to celebrate each other differences don't matter where we come from. In the future it won't be very nice to teach our children to hate others and don't celebrate them because they are similar. Markeya

  10. I think that young children need to learn the difference in other countries because we are all different. We all can learn from one another. A child from Uganda can learn about what my culture and I celebrate and I can do the same. (Vice-Versa). We all should learn about each other different cultures. Even though everyone doesnt celebrate the same thing, we still should learn about it because you never know what will happen in the near future.

  11. I completly agree with Jasma , no two people on earth are alike. No matter how much they act alike , look alike , or think alike they are different. So children should be taught to celebrate the differences among people. Because regardless of where you gon in the world you will have to deal with diverse types of people.
